Tracking exact emissions is tricky. Cloud providers tend to compensate between locations: One location could provide an overload of clean energy, while another is running on coal and they’ll consider this neutral. Measuring emissions on non-cloud servers is heavily dependent on the provider, and most don’t offer it.
Donating half of our income seems high to our research, but please share your numbers if you think otherwise.

You’ll integrate Silvan Earth at code level. This means that it doesn’t matter if you’re running on a VPS or on one of the cloud providers. While Silvan Earth is a documented JSON-API over HTTP, we’ll provide libraries for different languages and frameworks to make implementation easy.
